Section 2: The seal of KA embodies the principles and interests under this constitution
2.1 The part of the seal that overlaps the blue globe is the symbol of the original Loyola Coat of Arms, which was made up of two shields, representing the Onaz and Loyola families.
2.1.A. The Onaz shield consisted of seven bars on a field of gold, which commemorated the Onza brothers.
2.1.B. The seven bars were granted to them as a mark of honor by the king of Spain, in recognition of their bravery.
2.1.C. The Loyola shield was more intricate. The name Loyola was represented by wolves and a pot. The words “Lobo y Olla” in Spanish means literally “wolf and pot.” The wolf in those times stood for nobility and the design, as a whole represented generosity. It seemed that the Loyolas were so generous even wolves might feast copiously after the whole Loyola retinue had been supplied from their pot
2.1.D. As the Onaz family was the father’s family, the original combination of the shields showed the Onaz shield in the place of honor, on the right. As the years passed, the two families came to live in one castle, that of Loyola and the Loyola shield eventually gained the position of honors
2.1.E. The name Loyola honors the most famous of the Loyolas, St. Ignatius, the founder of the Jesuit order.
2.1.F. The crest sometimes appears with the words “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam” – for the greater glory of God symbolizing the deep reverence in following Christ’s steps in one’s actions.
2.2 The globe symbolizes the aim of Kilos Atenista to promote social awareness not only nationally but also internationally.
2.2.A. The blue shade represents development, which is the result of both self awareness and social action.
